Welcome to Shibuya, land of hip and fashionable teens and tweens. Affectionately called “Maru-Kyuu” (“09”), Shibuya 109 is a fashionista’s treasure trove. Enjoy multiple floors packed with women’s clothing. There’s also a basement floor where you can sip bubble tea and entertain yourself with weird and fun foods. You may know this place from an anime cameo, since it’s one of the symbols of Shibuya.
Why 109, you ask? One source (Japanese) says it’s because it’s “to-kyu” (pronunciation of 10 and 9), hence the Tokyo Group. Also that it opens at 10 and closes at 9. Who would’ve thought?
