Kabukicho Shinjuku

Kabukicho - Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan

Shinjuku’s bustling red-light district

Considered the red-light district in Shinjuku, Kabukicho is rowdy in the daytime and a little sketchy (but not really dangerous) at night. It’s where a lot of restaurants are, so there’s a good chance you’ll come by if you’re visiting Shinjuku.

Kabukicho is also where you’ll find the famous Godzilla head, peeking out from behind Toho Cinemas. You’ll also find many karaoke stores, bars, and a lot of nightlife fun.

If you want to see the weird side of Japan – in terms of all the R-18 stores – you’ll find plenty of that too. You’ll find a district of “love hotels,” catering to one night stands and the amorous needs of people still living with their parents. If you’re not too bothered by the risqué nature of Kabukicho, come by at night and see the city in action.
