Verifying your age on your LINE account – oh boy. Most of us probably struggled with this. As most of us know, without age verification, LINE just isn’t as easy to use. For example, you can’t connect to other users by just searching for their usernames. Instead, you’re limited to in-person QR code scans. Although you can take a screenshot and share your QR code that way, it’s just much easier to have a verified account. With that in mind, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you easily verify your age on LINE.

At first, age verification was only available to users with NNT Docomo or LINE Mobile contracts. However, it has gotten easier recently. Mineo, IIJmio, and Aeon mobile users can now verify their age on their accounts as well. This means that if you use any of these providers, you should be fine. Here’s how to do it:

Step 1: Where to Find Age Verification

Open the app, go to settings, and select age verification. You can then choose your provider.

Pop into settings for “Age verification” and follow the steps

Step 2: Enter Your Information

After choosing your provider, you need to enter the email and password that you got when you initially signed up. After this, you can move on to the next step.

Step 3: Register Your Sim Card

Next, enter your phone number. You need to have your SIM already registered on your provider’s website, otherwise, it won’t work.

That means that if you have not done this yet, there will be a red error sign at the top of the page. If you see this, you will have to go to your provider’s website and input the necessary data first.

Step 4: Verify Your Age

So far, so good! Next, you will see a screen with a check box at the bottom. Select this box and choose next. Finally, you will see a green button (If your Japanese is not that good, you can also just look out for the characters 年齢 nenrei – meaning age) – simply select it and you’re done!

Now, if you go back to your settings and choose age verification again, it should give you the option to use a username to add other users (and likewise they can add you in the same way), and you’re all set!
