Searching for healthier food options? Alishan café, restaurant, and grocery is a vegetarian paradise in Saitama prefecture. Here you will find many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free foods.
This restaurant, café, and grocery store offers a variety of choices and is a popular spot for locals.

The large red building is similar in style to an American barn.
The Information Table at Alishan Café
The first thing you will notice is Alishan Cafe’s commitment to the community.
Just inside the building, there is a small table where I found tons of information about local events, in both Japanese and English. Across the entryway, there is a small bookshelf with books about healthy food and lifestyles.

You can find lots of local news at the information table.
Café, Restaurant, and Store
The café is further divided into two spaces: a restaurant and a grocery store.
As soon as you enter the restaurant, you will smell delicious curries from the kitchen, both vegetarian and vegan. There is another bookshelf by the entryway with many cookbooks, including one written by the restaurant owners.
There are plenty of seats in a large, heated tent next to the restaurant. Or you can sit outside, in an uncovered dining space that is surrounded by trees. You will love Alishan’s delicious veggie burgers, curries, pizza, and more.
If you don’t have time to sit for a meal, the café offers vegan baked goods such as cookies and brownies.
The Workshops and Classes Upstairs
On the second floor, there is an event space for cooking classes and workshops. On sunny days, there may be a market in the outside parking lot.
Many visitors come to shop at the grocery store attached to the restaurant. There, you will find many familiar vegan and vegetarian brands such as Amy’s and Tasty Bite. There is also a wide variety of spices and loose-leaf teas. In addition, their refrigerator and freezer have many ready-made meals for vegetarians for sale.
