A Happy Pancake – Shiawase no Pancake

The fluffiest pancakes, sure to make you happy

A Happy Pancake

A Happy Pancake, or Shiawase no Pancake (幸せのパンケーキ), is a popular restaurant chain offering fluffy ricotta pancakes. A must-try for anyone with a sweet tooth, they have shops all over Japan, and even in Hong Kong — quite the sensation. We visited their Shibuya location, but there are also stores in Omotesando (the first store), Ginza, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro, among others in Tokyo. You can see their full store list here.

Menu

The restaurant focuses on sweet pancakes, perfect for an afternoon cafe date, but also offers breakfast options that are more savory. Their signature dish is the Happy Pancake, the softest pancakes made with Hokkaido butter and New Zealand manuka honey. Their other dishes are a play on their signature. They offer seasonal dishes as well.

You can view the full menu on their site (varies slightly by location).

A delicious experience

We had eight people, which meant we got a good variety!

The interior at the Shibuya location was clean, homey, and fun. They had a trap-door bathroom. Because, why not?

Getting a Reservation

A Happy Pancake offers reservations, but for the most part, it’s only for weekdays. Some of the stores allow for weekend reservations. You’ll need to sign up on their website to make a reservation.
