12.03 Chichibu Yomatsuri

This yomatsuri (night festival) is known as the most beautiful floats festival in the Kanto area. With its 300-year long history it’s also on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list and the Chichibu Shrine itself has over 2000 years of history. Also, there will be food stalls and fireworks.

It’s a bit far from Tokyo (over 1 hour from Ikebukuro Station), but we had to include this famous festival. If you want to read more about it, here’s detailed description: https://www.japanvisitor.com/japanese-festivals/chichibuyomatsuri
